Ortho-Bionomy stimulates the body’s self correcting and self-balancing reflexes using the proprioceptive nerve signals from joints and muscles.
These nerve signals register the position and movements of the body and give feedback to the central nervous system for determining balance, muscle tone, and structural alignment.
The practitioner uses movement and gentle compression to find positions of comfort that allow the body to change stress and pain patterns that have been causing discomfort. By slightly exaggerating these positions, the body releases tension and allows the natural realignment process to occur.
Pain patterns are released without causing pain or discomfort.
Ortho-Bionomy practitioners use a wide variety of techniques to facilitate these self-correcting processes including
- positional release of the body
- gentle movement
- postural balancing and re-education
- myofascial unwinding
- stimulating and balancing the neurolymphatic reflexes, and
- interacting with the body’s subtle energy systems.
In addition, the client may do self-care exercises at home to integrate and support the rebalancing processes.
